Last Senior Project Post

Prof. Hafford gave us an chance to make up for a missed weekly blog, by having us post about why it is we would miss such an easy assignment. There are two reasons why I missed posting. First, I either straight up forgot to do the post or after going out on Thursday night, I would sleep in until my 10:30am class, then by the time that class got out, it would be too late.

Post for Friday July 20th

Things are simple at this point.

Met with prof. Hafford and understand where I am at with senior project and what I need to do to complete it.

Went on the fishing trip and had a great time.

I feel good about where I am in this semester.

Friday July 13th

As of now, senioritus is starting to set in, and I am behind in half my classes including senior project. I need to step it up and get cranking on this work. I do believe alot will get done the week before this project comes due.

I am happy however because I had an interview with EnerNOC after 2 phone interviews and did great. It was 2 hours long with 4 different pairs of people, and it was a unanimous decision to move me to the next stage in the interviewing process. I do believe the job is mine for the taking!

Friday June 29th

This week and the past week have been a little slow on the senior project, procrastination is one of my downfalls, yet I do work well under pressure. Worry has not set in yet, and won't, as long as I get a significant amount of work done over the break. Since I have missed 1 or 2 blogs, I am considering doing the bonus book review. It would be a pain, but this is the last semester and I need to fight off senioritus and just finish strong.

My other classes are going well. I just pulled off the highest grade on the ethics exam (102) and will finish with a high score in internet research methods and international business, they are a breeeeeze.

I have recently started reading a book on global environmental governance, and it is absolutely re-enforcing my desire to get deep into the environmental field. It's nice to finally know what my direction is in life, and know what money is not what drives me, but if I can make a decent living for my self and my family, it would be nice. I suggest you read the book, it's a relatively quick read, that is super educational and eye opening. In fact, I believe everyone should read this and some other publications for then they will CERTAINLY be more environmentally conscience. It has been my thought lately that along with science class in elementary-high school, there should also be environmental class, because most people don't understand the condition that the world is in, nor the drivers for this rapidly deteriorating state.

Week 5

Week 5 has been productive but I could of done more, and I feel I may fall behind in what it is I need to get done week to week. Geographically Needham is the best location for the camp, yet they do not rent fields to non-residents. I could try to involve the Needham High ultimate teams and get the fields, or use the next closest fields in Sudbury which my camp could rent for 20$ a camper. I have found out that I also will need health permits to run this camp. Wistles for coaches and sweet lanyards will cost about $200. I have also realized the the marketing plan will be simple, easy, cheap and super effective.

On another note, I still need to partner up with someone for the case study, and that someone may be Adam Wedge. The book on coaching has given me some great tactics so far and has some applications to business, especially for projects and team goals

Week 4

Week 4 has been productive and our meeting has re-inforced my position. This weekend I will focus on mile stone one and be prepared for monday's presentation. The idea that Prof. Hafford had of taking my project a step further by looking into the franchiseability of the summer camp. I have bought a book for the review on creative coaching in sports and managing a team. I will bring it by your office for your approval. Adam Wedge and I may be working together on the case study assignment.

Week 3

Week 3 has been quite productive so far. I am going with the summer camp business for the project and have a contact with the marketing director for MA youth soccer. I did and sort of botched the financial ratios for A.W.A.R.E. and K-Mart (nice curve ball), but I have not submitted them on webCT which I am doing after this blog. This weekend will hopefully be very productive for I am not going to this tournament in up-state NY due to a upper leg injury.
